TWIN BRIDGES SNOWMOBILE CLUB, INC.

APRIL 2010 NEWSLETTER

Well, another season has passed.  A lot of work with little benefit, another short season…it makes you wonder what future winters will bring.  But spring is here and I think everyone is ready for the nice weather and an enjoyable summer.

Trail fund paper work has been turned in to the County to be forwarded to NYS Parks and trail work has been done for a while now.  Thank you to all that came and helped dismantle the sign posts, everyone made quick work of that.  Some couldn’t believe how many posts are put on the trails...all for safety and direction.

Over the summer the drags will be repainted and work on a couple of wet holes will be done.

A picnic is planned for August 21st with the place to be announced at a later date. It will be late afternoon.  We will also discuss the trail work that has to be done in September to have the majority of it done by hunting season in October.  It works really well and is a lot easier when you don’t have to do it with snow on the ground and rushing to get it done after Christmas to have the trails open.

A member suggested using email to notify members of work days and upcoming events.  That will be done as well as on the web site.  Non-computer members will be notified as well.

As Parks mandates all that is to be done to the trails we hope more members will give a hand.  It’s down to a science and to be able to commit to just one or two days would make it go even faster.

October is elections and we are also looking for some other members to take offices.  Think about it over the summer and call one of the officers if you have any questions or concerns.  Some members that have been in the club for 30+ years would like to step down and if the club, which is the oldest in Cortland County, is to continue we must see some new faces.  Any position is open from president to a board of director.

But the main point of this last newsletter of the season is to thank the landowners.  I know it is said every year but it can’t be emphasized enough how grateful we are, and the snowmobilers who ride through the area, for the generosity shown.  We are proud that we have found some riders trailer to our area to ride our trails, they are that enjoyable. We are also proud to put on a landowners appreciation dinner in the fall to kick off the new season inviting all landowners to attend as our guests.  Last year was a great time and it was nice to meet some of the landowners, hopefully this year more will attend.  If any landowner has an issue regarding last season please don’t hesitate to call one of the officers.

Have a great, safe summer and mark your calendars for the picnic on Saturday, August 21st.
